Shanghai training improves communication skills for project forwarders |

Project forwarders whose first language is not English and who want to refine their negotiation and business communication skills have the opportunity to undertake the Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management course running in conjunction with Breakbulk China 2012 at the Sheraton Shanghai Hongqiao Hotel. The ISO accredited training will be held from 27-28 February and blends the business communication training with project forwarding management exercises.

PPG Project Support Member and neutral air freight wholesale specialists, Air Cargo Group, will celebrate a successful eighth birthday at its annual conference in Bali, Indonesia, from February 27 to March 1 this year. The conference at the Nusa Dua Resort will be attended by more than 50 attendees from 35 countries representing ACG global and associated partners. ACG chairman Christos Spyrou said the group had continued to expand both categories of membership to deliver clients solutions that met their worldwide airfreight traffic needs.

Rhenus Prolog Logistics / Allfort Japan Deliver 30 Coaches to Manila |

Rhenus Prolog Logistics in conjunction with Allfort has successfully concluded the delivery of 30 rail coaches. The overall consignment comprised 6,871 cbm / 955.4 tonnes and was shipped from Kowasaki in Japan to Manila in the Philippines. The scope of work comprised Ex Works from rail to low bed trailers, midnight transportation on public roads to the port area and design of purpose-built spreaders. The purpose-built spreaders were specifically designed to disperse the cargo weight by lifting a sling for the coaches perpendicularly. Allfort arranged overnight port storage and final delivery alongside vessel. |

PPG Thailand moves new MDF/HDF Plant to Hat Yai, South Thailand |

PPG Thailand (Leschaco (Thailand) Ltd.) has successfully concluded the movement of a new MDF/HDF Plant to Hat Yai in South Thailand. Port of destination for almost all shipments was Songkhla, Thailand. The project started in March 2011 and ended in November 2011. The major volume comprised of several shipments from Europe (mainly Germany), Shanghai (China) and various cross-border transports from Malaysia. In total 190 Containers and 8,500 m3 of break bulk were handled. The biggest break bulk charter came from Hamburg with 4,500 m3/ 103 pieces. PPG Support Member Sea Concert (Thailand) Ltd. assisted greatly with the break bulk bookings.

Almajdouie Group has been awarded the Yanbu Export Refinery Project (YERP) in the Western Region of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for onshore the freight forwarding contract from Korean EPCs, Daelim and SK Engineering & construction, to handle local customs clearance and inland transportation of entire project shipments from global vendors for the project. This contract is another success of PPG member, Almajdouie Group, for one of the largest projects in KSA consecutively after Doosan Rabigh 2 P/Plant contract this year. The project duration is expected to last three years |

Held at the Sofitel Ballroom in Melbourne, more than 400 senior industry executives attended, making this one of the most premier events in the Shipping calendar with representation from every state making this one of the must attend events. Delegates came from across the nation to learn the nominees and winners in 16 categories determined by the judging panel and two awards selected by Lloyd's List DCN.

Rhenus Prolog Logistics and Allfort Japan Deliver 20 Train Coaches to Manila |

Rhenus Prolog Logistics in partnership with Allfort Japan have successfully delivered 20 units of train coaches. The overall shipment comprised 684.310 tonnes / 4,774.598 cbm from Niigata, Japan to Manila, Philippines. There were three coach variations and the scope of work began Ex-Works, rail off the coach and transport to Niigata Port. Doe to road restrictions, the coaches arrived on special low bed trailers at the port at midnight. They were then held in a designated lay-down area and transported alongside the vessel for loading with spreaders and slings specially designed by Allfort. The entire project was successfully completed on time and on budget to complete satisfaction of the client.

The Tianjin Port Authority hosted a delegation of the Port of Corpus Christi, led by City of Corpus Christi Mayor Joe Adame, for the official signing of the MOU. The cooperation alliance between Port Corpus Christi and Tianjin Port is aimed at generating new business by promoting the all water route between Asia and the Port of Corpus Christi Authority?and by promoting the all water route between North America?including Gulf of Mexico?and the Tianjin Port (Group) Co., Ltd. “Our Port is honored of signing this agreement today. The wind energy farm, located on the north side of the Port’s inner harbor, is known to be the first wind energy farm located on industrial port property in North America. “Our Port is proud to be one of America’s Wind Energy Ports leaders. Corpus Christi, TX – On September 14, 1926, the State of Texas had an official "statewide" celebration of the opening of the Port. The Port of Corpus Christi is a PPG Project Support Member. Eighty five years later, the Port will kick-off its celebration with a community event honoring friendship and commerce, signing an Memorandum of Understanding with the Panama Canal Authority. The week-long schedule of events honoring “85 years Building South Texas” was attended by PPG Founder/Chairman, Kevin Stephens and Susan St Germain President of TransProject LLC and Head of the PPG Advisory Board.

PPG Vietnam Deliver Integrated Sugar, Ethanol & Power Cogeneration Equipment to Kratie, Cambodia |

Vantage Logistics, Vietnam, have successfully concluded the delivery of thousands freight tons (both general, overdimensional and heavylift project cargoes) for the integrated sugar, ethanol & power cogeneration facility at Kratie, Cambodia. The equipment consisted of structural steel manufactured in Vietnam and machines from various other countries transhipped via Vietnam. Vantage Logistics’ scope of services included receiving at port/factory, export or transit customs clearance, trucking and delivery. A major hurdle included the fact that this period is “flood season” in Cambodia and Vantage personnel were required to re-survey the road before every delivery. Six trips were delivered safe, on time and on budget to the complete satisfaction of the Client.
