Express Transport’s scope of work was to provide point to point project logistic services on a round trip bases. Project management included not only handling the heavy lift within India at the time of Export and thereafter at the time of import but also included Custom Clearance, Ocean Freight on a round trip bases, barge handling and ship loading. The inland transportation of Transformers from Vadodara to Mumbai Port was done using 12 Hydraulic Axles coupled with a Volvo 460 Prime Mover. The Transformer Tank unit dimension was 10000 x 4800 x 4550 (mm) weighing 173 Tons (218 CBM). |

PPG Member M/s. POLYTRA N.V., Antwerp played an important role in handling and supervision at the time of unloading from Push-Barge and loading the transformer & accessories on board vessel for onward shipment to Mumbai Port. The Transformer had been at the premises of Messrs. KEMA for testing. After Testing Job was completed, the 315 MVA Transformer was delivered at Antwerp on board push-barge “MOBY DICK L“ which arrived on 4th March 2009 at the terminal of Messrs. DP WORLD ANTWERP at Antwerp. The loading operations for the subject heavy lifts on board occurred at berth 468, Antwerp docks, on the 11th March 2009.

The transformer was first lifted by means of vessel’s crane no. 1, placed at the tweendeck and subsequently picked up by means of crane no. 2. The cases were loaded by means of the Gottwald crane and stowed in a row from side to side and against the aft transversal bulkhead. At portside the cases were stacked up to 7 units high and at starboard side up to 3 units. Express Transport for the past 63 years are providing dedicated project logistics and management services and handling large no of projects on a turnkey bases.
